yes maam sugar can make anything of poorer quality..exercise is excellent for strenthening your mind and also you should say some positive affirmations to yourself, when the intrusive thoughts come into play..you kick in and do something about the thoughts too, don’t just let them stay there..there is a sayin..you cannot keep birds from fleeting over your head, but you can keep them from construction a nest in your hair..you can stop thoughts that you do not want there..Peace
yes! you do have to take tablets for OCD. my son had it so terrible, that he could not focus on anything. he also has ADHD, which goes with OCD. after 2yrs i could’nt take it anymore. i did not want him on tablets either. i took him to a psychiatrist–who place him on prosaz and abilify;, and he can now focus and does very well. he has had no side effects from the meds–like i thought he would. you can also try behavior therapy modification. tell yourself repeatedly to focus. cut back on sweets for the racing thoughts. do exercises everyday. i hope you excellent luck, and god bless.
Omega 3 is excellent for the brain, but, what happens in OCD is you don’t produce enough seratonin to take messages from one neuron to the next. I take Luvox which has not had any side effects other then it makes you sleepy, but you get used to that over time. I’ve been on it for about 12 years now and it has helped a lot.
I was also in a group program at the University of Michigan Anxiety Clinic. The one thing that they taught us was to take on what you dread. For example, I was worried of anything that was red. If I saw a red mark on a piece of paper, I immediately went to the thought that it was blood and I touched it and now I’m going to get AIDS. What they had me do was the doctor place a red mark on a piece of paper. (I did not know what he used to place the red mark on the paper.) I had to carry that piece of paper nearly with me and touch the red mark ten times a day and “transfer” the “cooties” by touching the red mark and then place my hands on my face. I had to do this for a week. By the end of the week, that dread of red marks went away. It was hard, very hard. We had to track our anxiety from what it was on day 1 to what it was on day 7 based on a scale of 1-10. Ten being the worst. When I first did this exercise, my anxiety level was at a 10… but in a couple days, it went down and then finally, not anything. I know that’s a lot of information. But that’s one thing that helped me deal with whatever popped up.
One thing that does aggravate OCD is stress. Another way to help with OCD is to exercise.
Hope this helps.
