Food 2 seems like it has a much higher meat content like you said, but it also has more vegetables and minerals. I reckon it would be a better food overall.

  • Love is a GSD eats *people* food:

Just from ingredients, I like food 2 a lot better. Food 1 only has one meat source, chicken, in only 1 ingredient spot. Then the next two ingredients are rice. If you combine the two types of rice into one ingredient source, I bet they would be more numerous then the meat source. Then you have oats as a main ingredient. Why? Dog’s can’t digest grains like rice and oats, why are they the most numerous ingredients in the food? Beat Pulp is next, which can cause NUMEROUS health problems. One being that the beat pulp can really cause a mucus layer to form in the intestines. This mucus layer can really prevent incorporation, and cause food to store up and start to ferment. Yeast infection in the intestines.

The first 3 ingredients in food 2 is different meat sources, which is excellent. Then you have sow matter which isn’t super digestible, but that is followed by even more meat sources, which includes meat and fish. Although I don’t agree with all the sow matter included, it has a lot of different meat sources and no pointless grains to act as fillers. The protein level is a small high, but I wouldn’t be too concerned. Protein from meat matter, which I assume that is, is a lot different then protein from sow matter. Because food 2 has so many different meat ingredients, it’s expected that the protein will be a small higher.

So, DEFINETLY food 2, in my opinion

  • T J:

Personal opinion of course, but I wouldn’t even place my CATS on a 42% protein diet.
That kind of formula is what you would expect a “musher” to have their dogs on when when actively training for the Iditarod sled dog race. It is NOT a food intended for a household pet.

  • jaberwocky:

unless your dog is extremely committed feed the first one a diet to high in protein can cause hyperness or/and kidney failure

  • Just the facts:

    You’re feeding a g-d PET DAWG….not a fing GRIZZLY BEAR!!!!!
    Wake UP…get real.
